I'm running 1.23.4 (123523)RC on Vista SP2, with 4GB of ram, and with a geForce9500GT\1GB video + Nvidia driver 181.22, and am getting very annoyed with the frequent bouts where the viewer screen goes black, Windows reports the viewer "not responding" for about 15-30 seconds, then everything comes back, till the next time... On occasion, I see a dialog box indicating that the video driver had stopped responding.. Is there any "magic incantation" on video drivers for SL now?? Last I checked the Nvidia website, 181.22 was the latest video driver for this card... Anybody else seeing this??
Also seeing in on Snowglobe.. Tried snowglobe to see if I could clear the problem up, apparently not..

186.18 is the current Nvidia driver. Updating is probably worth a shot.
Also, clear your network cache (in SL, Edit > Preferences > Network).

The Vista message "Video card has stopped responding but has recovered" and then crashing out of SL (or any other program that was runnning at the time) is often a little more serious than a mere outdated driver. What it's telling you is that your card shut down. A driver could certainly cause that so updating is something you should look into. But, don't stop there..........look inside your case and thourghly clean it would, check for proper fan operation, unobstructed air flow through the case, etc.
