Edit Appearance

Whenever I try to edit my appearance (with either edit->appearance or click avatar, click appearance) my avatar turns toward the sreen and then my computer freezes.

Any Ideas?

I wrote this rather quickly and then I realized I might want to clarify a bit. I can drag objects, shapes, etc onto my avator. Its when I actually try to edit my appearance or edit an article of clothing on my avatar that everything freezes. I actually have to restart my computer.

This has not always been the case and I did not do anything (upload anything, buy anything) between the time this worked and now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem occasionally -- it seems to be random and I'm thinking that it's a driver error. It seems to happen most often when I'm 1) In a laggy area 2) don't wait for my av to "reload" the image after I've made a change before changing another "section" (i.e. I drag the slider to long front fringe and then, before the av reloads I start dragging the slider for "long back". I don't think this is really helpful to you but it does happen to other folks . When this happens, I'm also stuck with an entirely frozen pc which I have to restart.

I've had this problem for a long time now, i've reported it several times, and still haven't found out why this happens. If i don't get to make an av soon i will go insane!!!!!!

It could be a coincidence, but this is something you might want to try.

I went into second life and a little voice was saying 'check your inventory'

I started cleaning out my inventory and I found a calling card in my lost and found. When I deleted it second life automatically restarted. I when back into Second Life I just, on a hunch, tried to edit my appearance and after a short delay (1 sec) it work. I tried it multiple times and it worked every time.

Might be something to try.
