Hi everyone - I don't know where to go, since the customer support wont help me. I wont pay for something I can't use, and they wont help me if I don't pay, so... Stuck. So could someone here, who's less stringent please help?
My problem is that whenever I log on inworld, everything goes fine initially. Objects, textures, etc load - I get normal connectivity, so far as I can see. After about ten seconds, the connection vanishes. Nothing left of it - I can't move, load anything, et cetera. If I'm moving when it happens, I keep moving permanently. At one point I was flying down when it happened, and I flew over 1000 coordinate points below ground level... (I've tried getting around the crash and had it happen dozens of times, each time moving a little more)
At any rate, I have tried restarting. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the client. I've shut down all my firewalls etc. Other members of my family use SL without problems, so it can't be our router.
If it helps, I use version 1.23.5 on Windows Vista. 2GB of RAM, and wired broadband (don't remember the exact speed).
Thanks..!

So helpful. Hmm. If anyone manages to answer my question and fix the problem, I'll give them L$500? Will that bring any more incentive..?

Keep your $L500 should I win the lottery. My suggestion is that your problem does lie with your router......despite others on your network not having your issue. I had a similar issue about a year ago with my connection. The problem started suddenly, out of the blue, and the other computer in this house had no issue at all. My connection would simply go away, especially when on SL........the other computer never had the problem. I could reestablish the connection sometimes by using Windows diagnose/repair connection utility but not reliably. Some a resetting of the modem would fix it too.....again not reliably. In frustration I tried resetting the router back to the default setting by doing the straightened paperclip trick on that tiny recessed button in the back. It didn't work. In fact since I had previously "locked down" my router (I was being piggybacked by a neighbor near enough to access my wireless router), it got worse. And my password no longer worked!! Anyway, I called Linksys to get back in my router since I figured I had big problems now that my password would no longer let me get to my configuration utility. They helped me get the router back to default (you have to hold that button down for about 30 seconds, then unplug the router for about 5 mins for the resetting to factory defaults take), and the tech asked me why I had to reset to factory defaults in the first place. I explained my disconnecting problems while the other computer on the network had no issues (thinking that it was my computer setup as the source, not the router). The tech said not necessarily.......and walked me through configuring my router. I've never had the problem since. So, what I'm saying is, call your router support people. They know more than we do and they likely can help.
