Hello, I get the 'The memory7x9932094 (whatever) referenced at 0x00000 cannot be read, click ok to terminate the program' whenever I log in to SL. It happens as soon as I get in SL or right before.

I have all the correct driver settings, updates, patches and downloads needed, but here's the stats on the computer:

Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHZ
2.79GHZ, 1.00GB of RAM

Using an ATI Radeon x1650 serious card with all appropriate drivers. Even down graded to the Catalyst Control Center 7.2 to fix a pixelated outline graphics error.

Also, the computer is AGP, not PCI.

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

I searched that memory issue on google and microsoft, nothing matched.

If you are using a AGP, the chances are, your driver/card may not be supported anymore.

Have you tried installing version 3 of '.NET Framework' from microsoft, that has the runtime libraries for OpenGL platforms like SL?

Yes, I have .Net Framework 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 installed. I've fixed this issue before, but I don't remember how I did it. I know there's a way and I was hoping that the same person that I read it from before would say something. It seems the forum post was removed because the issue was resolved so I was unable to locate it again. :/

AWM - If it was a .NET issue, then SL wouldn't run at all.

Zuri - Uninstall SL and reinstall it. That error is a potential indication of a corrupt program.

I agree, hence my reply based on the OP issue.

I was finally able to get it to work. I had to use a different version for the graphics drivers I use. I was using Catalyst 7.2, but as soon as I got 7.6 SL stopped crashing on start-up. Apparently 7.2 uses some controls for PCI and not AGP. Doing a search in Google I found that 7.6 is made for AGP and PCI so you can disable the PCI options and make it work only for AGP computers.

I had this issue because I had to reinstall Windows due to a hard drive crash so I lost all the drivers and settings I had. I guess 7.2 was causing all my computer problems because it was using tools and controls for an PCI which was conflicting with everything I did. So far since I changed it, my computer and SL has been working better than normal.

Thanks for the replies!

Yes, the OpenGL API calls are directly to the GC drivers, so interpretation must be as precise as possible, keeping your drivers upto date and correct versions is important. Simply installing the latest driver isn't always the right answer. Glad you got it sorted out.
