Does anyone know if you can turn off the "away" animation, the one where your avatar slumps forward? I know I was able to use debug to turn off that irritating "typing" animation, but not sure if the "away" anim can be turned off or not. Thanks in advance!

AllowIdleAFK, in debug settings. ^_^

Also, AFKTimout lets you set how long it takes to go away automaticaly.

thanks and further info

Thanks Dante! I went into debug and set the variable to false, then after relogging, I noticed I was still doing the "head butt" every few minutes. So I went back into debug and reset the Idle Timer to 3000 seconds (Edit preferences allows you to change this setting but as far as I can see, it limits you to 600 seconds, while debug allows a higher setting). I relogged again, and still saw the animation every few minutes. I even rebooted the computer, with no change.

Then something came to me... I found that I had an Amethyst Stay Awake hud attached, just outside of the field of view. I switched off the Stay Awake, and along with the things you suggested, have not done a head butt since. Duhhhhhh Jem......

I'm not sure exactly how the Stay Awake works, but I suspect that it kicks an idle watchdog every few minutes and each time it does, you get the head butt animation. I'm no expert on this but that's my best guess. If anybody can provide any more info on how the idle timer and stay awake work together, I'm always interested in learning more.

Thanks again!

Go to menu,
then Advance,
then Character,
then Character Test ...... uncheck Go Away/Afk When Idle.

That should fix it :)

You wouldn't need a stay awake if you do what I said above, you can stay logged in all day without getting booted due to inactivity

character test

Thanks Papillon, I tried setting the character test first, before even posting here, and I still saw the headbutt. But that was before I realized that the Stay Awake hud was attached. So this solution may well have worked. I may set my other settings back to default and try this solution again without the Stay Awake on and see.
