So, I recently released something new at my store: mod/copy/no trans, it's highly detailed, custom textured, slightly scripted... instant hit.
So when one of my customers IMs me today and tells me there's a problem, I get worried. After a customer (not I) rezzes this item, it changes permissions to no mod/no copy/trans, which means that a person can rez it, then pick it up for infinite copies to give to friends, if they wanted to. Also, my customer base prides itself on modifying things to make them unique, so it changing to no mod is bad, too.
I looked further into my new product and discovered another problem: There is no creator listed for any of the prims except for the root prim. I made every one of those prims, minus a couple sculpties I bought, so I should be listed as the creator.
I don't know what to do. Obviously, I'm taking it off my shelves until I figure out how to solve this, but I'm at a loss.
Does anyone know what happened or how to fix this?

Make sure when you change perms that you always do it on a rezzed object, then take that copy into inventory. Test perms with an alt. I've experienced things changing, too, on rare occasions - but I think generally it's just a case of changing perms in inventory instead of when rezzed.
The no creator thing is probably just because it wasn't all made by one person, I suppose. If you unlink it what do the pieces say then?

It seems to have spontaneously fixed itself.
Or the problem was on my customer's end, and not mine. I did try it with an alt, and the object worked just fine. I'll keep the "changing permissions while rezzed" thing in mind, though.
And you're right. When I unlinked, the individual objects showed me as the creator. (unless they weren't supposed to) Thanks for the help.

Sometimes people mistakenly read the perms as their opposite when looking at the little tickboxes. I think we've all done that at one time or another.
