Hi all I am new to SL and seem to be having an issue where I only stay connected to the server for a few mins. I have a new quad core pc and I have heard there were some problems with the dual cores. I have lowered my graphics and dumped my cache, restarted SL but to my dismay I get disconnected once again. I have no other issues online or surfing the web just can not seem to stay on SL. Any suggestions?

Hi,Roxie, just wanted you to know you're not alone-I haven't been able to log in successfully since I crashed about 8 hours ago  I have tried everything,including reinstalling sl,and still can't connect.Good luck!

Roxie, getting disconnected from the servers but not crashing is a pretty good indication you are having some sort of network issue. If you are on a home network and connect to the internet via a router, the first thing to try is to reset your router (might as well do the same for you modem). You do that by unplugging the devices from their electrical source and leaving them unplugged for 3 to 5 minutes. Plug them back in and once the indicator lights settle down to the normal blinking try SL again.
You probably would want to shut down your computer while resetting you modem/router.
teri, you problem appears to be something entirely different. Not being able to log in after a crash could mean you are ghosted (your avatar is still on the grid according to the servers even though you are not). A sim restart will solve your problem. Submit a support ticket if you are on a Mainland sim or contact the sim owner if you are on an Estate sim.

I finally got connected after 12 frustrating hours. I had submitted a help ticket and never received a response, so I'm not sure what finally solved the problem--I'm just glad it works now!
