I've had this item since October -- made the object myself, bought third-party scripts for it (it's a collar, Amethyst scripts) and it's worked fine since October, no problems whatsoever.

Couple of nights ago, I took it off for an event (with due authorization/permission, o' course), put the original, scripted version back on to go out again and wore it for the rest of the night with no problems.

When I logged in the following day, I wasn't wearing it anymore. I did not take it off before logging out, but it wasn't listed as "worn" the next day, and when I went to attach it, I got an error that was something like: "The server was unable to create object. Please try again later."

Two days since, and I'm still getting that error. I IMed the creator of the scripts, and was told that this is just a bug that SL has sometimes. I amn't sure what that means. Will it come back, or is it just gone forever? Is there any method, trick, or suggestion for recovering an object that the asset server has arbitrarily borked?

If it were shoes or hair, I'd accept the loss and move on, but this kinda thing tends to have a bit more personal meaning to the wearer, and I'm reluctant to give up. Have tried clearing cache several times, reinstalling the client, reattaching while in various different sims, passing it to a trusted someone (who also couldn't rez it). It will not load, attach, attach to HUD, reattach to a new location. I can't place it on the ground, load/wear from inside a box, attach it with green eggs and ham, or otherwise interact with it in any way.

Halp?

Ah, haven't seen this for a while, but then again there were major asset server issues lately. Yes, the creator is right, this is an SL bug. It is on the server side, and sometimes clears up by itself over time. Keep clearing cache every once in a while. People have had objects "missing from database" return after weeks.

If you have a Premium membership, you are entitled to support and can submit a support ticket for it. If you are a Basic membership tho, you can't really contact Linden Labs about this sort of thing.

Personally, I detach scripted objects before logging out. But in this case, that would probably have made no difference.

I would wait for a couple of weeks and then send Amethyst a notecard about it again, saying that it appears to be permanently gone. If you have a transaction history for the original purpose, that would help. Meanwhile, you can drop your script into a freebie collar.

Best luck!

Alas, I went back to Basic a bit ago so's I could spent more on my shoe collection. D'oh. Else I'd have sent in a ticket already, but... thank you hugely, I'll certainly keep trying.

I can make a replacement collar--that's already been discussed, and if it doesn't come back by Thursday I suspect it will be done. Just wish it didn't have to be. *grumble*

Thanks again. ^^

After you remake your collar this time, make a copy of it putting the scripts in it. This will let you drop scripts in a replacement if it ever happens again.

It's been happening to me a lot lately too. I have waited and waited and try to reattach again the next day which used to work, but isnt anymore. I finally just took myself out and bought new items. So sorry that it is happening to you too.

It was supposed to be fixed at one time, but obviously the fix is the same place that my shoes are not supposed to be attached too. Up my rump.

Well, yes--I do have a copy of it unscripted, I always backup my work. It's losing the original scripted one that bothers me, is all. ^^

I suppose the LL word is "resolved" ...yes. Rather than fixed, because... well... ^^;;

I once had all my attachments, including HUDS, eyelashes, earrings, hair, etc... all suddenly end up where shoes seem to default to. In public, naturally. *laugh* Am very glad that doesn't seem to happen (as often) anymore...
