Catalyst 8.10 issues?

I set up a computer at my work today to double check my video card before I take it home. I assume it may just be a psu issue but;
when I get on sl it freezes the computer completely.

I was using a dell optiplex gx620
P4 3.0ghz
2gb ddr2 533mhz ram
80gb hdd
5.1 PCI sound card
vista home basic
305 Watt psu (standard case psu, never exchanged out_

ati radeon hd 2600 xt 512mb (vista drivers)

in the past I had an issue with the card that on sl my screen would just go black and that was that...

other games run perfectly, so I concluded its driver issues conflicting with SL itself.

Any ideas?

I'm looking if its just a few issues that can be resolved because when I looked at the stats the 2600 actually tops the 9800 gt 512 oddly enough. But I don't want to carry dead weight if you get what I mean ;P

You mention Catalyst 8.10, note there is an 8.11 out now.




If I see the Catalyst Driver Poll one more time I may go ballistic.
