DNS cannot resolve.... what?

I can't log into the game because of some DNS not able to resolve my host name. Now I had heard already that the UK was having issues with logging in, and well, I'm glad Linden Labs is on that issue, but I'm in the US. Is there a problem with the entire game now because of the new update? I mean, I could log in fine before it, and then... nothing.
(I'm sorry if I seem like I'm whining, but I have already missed a meeting to a company I OWN. That really doesn't look good to the employees...)

I've gotten that message before. Not sure exactly what the error message is saying but I think it relates to some internet issue. I usually just wait it.........maybe 10 or 15 minutes. You might try resetting your modem/router.......might help. And I've rebooted to solve my problem before too. But that might just be a coincidence since the error message is seldom more that about 10 mins.

I'm in the US.

Maybe? If not, don't know... I hope this company is an SL company not a RL company... SL is not stable enough for RL business in my opinion. Why do you think IBM setup their own controlled grid.... Anyway good luck.

God no. I could never run a RL company on this game. Maybe use it for meetings to cut down on the need for traveling to meet, but not much else. But either way, I tried all of your suggestions... nothing. thank you anyway, I hope it solves itself, because nothing else can be done on my end...

Are you behind a firewall or using a VPN connection to another network? If I forget to disconnect the VPN connection to my work network, I get that error almost all the time, because the DNS info for SL is on a blocking list.

But I also get it randomly, even on straight Internet access. Usually you can wait 30 seconds or so and try again, and it works fine.
