I recently had to update my nVidia 8600GT card because I started crashing out of SL with the Windows message about my graphics card stopping and has recovered...........I think that's the message you are getting too. It started on the latest mandatory upgrade of the viewer a week or so ago. My crashes were not predictable but after a couple crashes I figured it's finally time to replace the driver I've been using for quite some time (169.25). I was leery of the newest driver because I've heard it has problems with SL so I downloaded a driver that is a couple months old...........175.19. It works great. No more crashes.
My card is 8600GT but I'm sure you card is listed too......take a look. Hope it helps.

There's an acknowleged SL crashing issue with running SL on Vista with Nvidia cards.. Some get it others don't with no readily apparent reason for the difference. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6733?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=82702#action_82702
