I'm having some trouble uploading some sounds I made I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm 100% positive it's 44100mhz, but I don't know what the difference is between ADPCM and PCM. Whenever I try to upload it, it says it doesn't appear to be a PCM. The only save options I have with my audio program say ADPCM and the PCM ones don't specify any mhz what so ever. If someone could please help me with this or know a program that will automatically force the wav file to the proper format for SL, this would help me out alot. I'll be back in 15 minutes to check this page.

You might want to check the resolution of the sound files. Usually I get that error when I try to upload a 32 bit sound file. Sound files need to be 16 or 8 bit. Hope that helps. :-)

Mine say wrong SIZE

I don't know how to fix this problem, :( but I hope that someone can figure it out and post an answer. When I try, it says that the SIZE is wrong. That made no sense to me, as it was smaller then the 44.1k it was asking me to upload. If it is indeed the other, then I too hope someone has an answer to this as to what problem, free or trial, I can download to make it the right size/shape/whatever.

Thanks! :)

A sound file can only be 10 seconds long, maybe its too long. If everything else is right this could be the problem

Simple. they are not wave files, they have to be std .wav format since they then will be converted internally to MP3 format at the bitrate that you set it as. As said if its over 9.99 seconds long the upload will fail but most likely your format of the file is wrong. it needs to be a std 44.1mhz wave. If you are in windows you can check this easily by looking the files properties, right click, properties, then click the summary tab, you will see its bitrate, bitlength, sample rate and its format. .wav will be PCM. Hope this helps you.

It's only 6 seconds long

Okay, now I finally was able to upload a file. I converted it to a 16bit stereo wav file in PCM, and it let me upload. But when I got in in-world, it's blank. Nothing there. So I thought maybe it can't be stereo. So I did it again. This time in mono. It works on the computer, but once again I paid to upload a NOTHING file. I have a fast connection, nothing wrong with the upload, but once it gets here. POOF, dead. It's only 6 seconds, it's in mono, only 16 bitz.... I don't know anything else I CAN do to fix this. :(

No good, not even at 8 bitz mono

I read up there where someone mentioned "16 or 8".... so I TRIED it ONE MORE TIME, but this time at an 8bits rate, still mono... still 6 seconds... NOTHING. Nada. Blank. Totally KAPUT! And I'm not paying LL another stinking cent to upload air! It's one thing to have us paying for every single thing we upload, when they can freely use it (according to their rules)... it's another to have us start paying for air. :(

Okay... something was wrong with my sound. :o I feel stupid. Seems that the first one DID upload... and the second... and the third. I just couldn't hear it for some reason. I tried one of my other sounds, and found out that I couldn't hear IT either and I KNEW that it should sound... So I fiddled with some stuff, put on headphones, and dang if it wasn't there. :D Now I feel silly!

Oh bother! :o

All soundfiles in sl are converted to mono.

if your encoder fails for some unknown reason try another one or a converter.
wikipedia knows file formats and freeware.
