Don't laugh but last night I built an 80's style boom box / ghetto blaster, hehe. (You can see it in my gallery in the Outlands @ Hawthorne 60,50).

I got it all scripted up to play a selection of different chilled out music loops upon request (all royalty free, Lindenfolks :) ), but if I'm standing facing the boombox object while the sound is playing, it plays the sound really muffled and bassy, as if you were standing outside a nightclub hearing the music inside coming through the walls, if you know what I mean, haha.

If I turn my back to the boombox and gradually walk away, the sound becomes normal and clear and sounds exactly how I would have imagined it to sound in the first place.

Anyway... I read some of the forum posts about sound, and how it's based on where the camera's "ear" is, but the problems described in those posts were mostly about volume levels and didn't really match what I was experiencing.

It just seems really strange that if my avatar is facing the boombox head on and is standing a few feet away, surely I should be able to hear the sound normally, instead of hearing it normally after turning my back to it and walking away ?

Is there some kind of "sound direction" parameter I've missed somewhere?

Maybe it's a bug in the doppler effect code?

Has anyone else had any similar problems? (I apologise if there's another forum post explaining this and I've just missed it).
