Hi everyone,

Apple released an OSX update today that contained video drivers for both ATI and NVIDIA cards.

After installing it, I found that I could run SL with AGP turned on and NO crashes!

I played for about 3-4 hours this evening with no problems at all.

Hooray!

I've got to try this! The AGP bug has been driving me nuts! I was going to hold back on the update for a while, in case it nukes my machine, but it seemed to work for you. Go LindenLab bug squashers!

These driver updates - in my case the NIVIDIA - are installed automatically right?

I've already downloaded the OSx update...

Still having significant packet loss....

Packet loss has nothing to do with agb, and os x ati and video drivers. Packet loss usually is some thing to do with your isp. I do know the last two updates ago airport extreme was found to have some problems, specifically a gig of a a cretin kind of ram in a g5.

Why not ping the sl server, and do a trace route. I bet you'll find your problem has more to do with your isp, and less to do with os x or the sl program.

Well i wasnt having any problems with the agp before but i did do the Mac OS update today and i dont know if this would have anything to do with it but as of today i have lost about 8-10fps when on my land. where i was getting 18fps im now getting 10, would these new drivers that came with the OS update cause this lower fps rate, im not to puter saavy and was wondering. Seems things have been acting wierd for the last week or so like packet loss, event window taking its time to open, but anyway if anyone could help me out id appreciate it.

I don't know about the ping of past weeks, but this week my average pin is 210. IN yes I found the vent window take longer to load, but it's unclear if this is client related. Or some thing server side. Most likely the server been under increased load, or they turned down through put. COuld just be bad 'internet' weather.

The only real way to know if the ox update had an effect on fps would be to test it under lab conditions. IE run the latest version of sl, on the same system. IN then again after the update.

Every thing i've read about the driver update suggest that it offer an improvement of speed. By increase the number of open gl command avelebel to developers, and by general improvement in it's rendering structure , but I haven't checked it it included pre compressed texture rendering.

Have you, or your nabber recently add object to their land? That could explain the slow down. you must have an amazing computer to get above 10 fps. it could also be some thing with the latest sl update.

Yes that been happening for past couple of weeks....

I just don't get the feeling that the Mac Client is performing as it should....

It was much faster and smoother vers. 1.2 Jan. - through March...

Then when the huge Sim expansioin happened, and with vers. 1.3 mine experience has NOT been anywhere near as good.
