I haven't played second life in a LONG time. Maybe two or three months. Maybe more, I can't remember exactly. Problem is now that I want to play again, the game tells me I need to download the new updates. Whenever This happened before, after I clicked yes when it asked me if i wanted to get the updates, my computer would go back to windows and a nice little update box would magically appear and update my game. The last several times I've tried to do this, when my computer goes back to windows, nothing happens. No nice little update box. It's essentially like I quti the program, but I didn't I told it to go ahead and update. I am really tech illiterate, if that isn't already obvious, so could someone tell me what might be happening here. Do updates just not happened automatically when you click yes anymore, or is my computer or game or something screwed up?

You can manually download a new version of SL by going to Downloads in the menu bar at the top of the website and clicking Second Life. This will download the SL installer program, and it will install as if you updated the instilation you already have.

THat's been broken for as long as I can remember. It probably works out ok if you use Internet Explorer as your default browser, but I (and I imagine a few others areound here) don't.
On of the 1.1 version (and it was a "one day" version, as it was patch very shortly after it was released) operated as intended.
Not that I'm complaining, Just htough I'd mention it in passing...

This was a bug that was fixed in one of the more recent patches - it turns out that the link on the start menu started Second Life up in the wrong folder, and also made the auto-updater not work. After updating to the newest release, this shouldn't be a problem anymore.
