A couple of times now this has happened to me. I was working on a few attachments and to get them set right I needed to take them off and adjust so I used "drop" from the menu instead of Detach and my object poofed. I looked high and low for it, even in my lost and found and object folders. It's just gone!
This happening to anyone else??

I'm looking into this bug, but haven't been able to reproduce it so far. Any suggestions or observations would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Aaron

its very inconsistant. For me it never happens on the first drop but rather when Im working on something and am taking it on and off. I've kind of stopped using it so thats all the help I can be at the moment.

Yes! This happens to me constantly. I've yet, in the last few weeks, to drop something and have it actually drop rather than disappear. It's meant restarting pieces of clothing more than once.

Ok, there are two known causes for losing dropped objects. My question is: is there a third cause?
Cause 1: The dropped attachment is put underground. If you're standing on a hillside, facing the hill, and you drop an object, it's currently put a fixed distance in front of your feet--which may well be under the hill.
Cause 2: Just like Cause 1, only you're standing in front of a large object and the attachment is being "dropped" inside it.
Cause 3: ???
Is there a Cause 3? Has anyone seen cases of missing dropped attachments when they are standing on level ground in an empty area?
Thanks for your help! Aaron
P.S. The fix for Cause 1 is ready to go. Cause 2 will take more work and so it may have to wait. Alternately, we could just drop the "drop" feature. What do you think?

My vote would be on dropping the "drop" feature, it's not really necessary. As long as you detach to inventory, you can just drag it out where you want it, elminating all arbitrary distance decisions...

Hey! Trade you the Drop feature for a "make my avatar hold real still" feature :-)
Oh. And I'll toss in the Go To command for a Sit command that tries just a bit harder to FIND room to sit SO I DON'T HAVE TO KEEP ARGUING WITH IT ;-)

How to get your stuff back

...when it's under the ground...
Press shift+alt+5 and the ground disappears. Now you can edit your object.
