my mic for voice chat is not working... there is nothing wrong with the mic. everytime i press talk it stay on for 2 secs an go off... an all the other person can hear is static...plez tell me wat i have 2 do.....plezzzzzzzzzz

Not sure, from your description.
But try checking your sound driver. When I got a new PC, recording from the mic, Skype and Yahoo phone calls worked fine, and SL just didn't. But, after I discovered that the driver specific to my sound chips had never been installed and fixed that, SL voice worked fine.
