i installed the beta, and then clicked the program on the desktop. it goes to a screen that just shows 'Second life" with a sunset and the sun on the bottem. i pressed a few keys (one of them was enter) and it went to a progress bar. it then had an error message that said "login failed. maybe your capslock is on?" and then it went back to the second life screen.

My thought is that the resolution is wrong and theres supposta be a place to type in your user name and password, but it doesnt fit on my screen? i dont know..please help:confused:

First its too early. The log in server doesnt open until 2pm pst.

Sounds like you are indeed at the login screen. It does require a user id & password. First see if you can minimize the window. If you cant you may need to switch your display settings in your control panel. There are in game preferences too but you cant get to that screen if you cant even put in your user ID.

Lastly, no need to open multiple threads on the same issue. Someone will respond.

Good luck, hope to see you in world.

Hmm, this is a tough one. It could be that your monitor isn't correctly calibrated for the resolution that SL is using, and that the bottom of the screen is being drawn off the bottom edge. You might try adjusting your monitor's vertical size and position while running SL to see if you can bring the bottom (where the login fields are) into view.

If that's not it, try editiing this file:
C:\Program Files\SecondLife\settings.ini

Look for a line like this:
FullScreen TRUE

and change it to:

FullScreen FALSE

If the line doesn't exist, just add it as above.

This will cause SL to run in a window and avoid any resolution changes. Once you get in, you can use the Preferences panel to try out different fullscreen resolutions, if you like.

oo i fixed it. all i did was change the monitor resolution to 800x600 and ran second life, then went to the preferances and changed it to 1024x1280 (my default resolution) and then changed my res back! it worked!
