pardon my chatspeak
i am bouncing up and down on my own property.

well, i was, but now the sim i am in has vanished.

this is shortly after using the world teleport home function.

this happened the other day and ended up locking up the computer.

my land is at the boundary of 4 sims

walking to a still remaining sim has caused the vanished sims to return and the bouncing has stopped
walking off my land has made the bouncing start again, and
now walking around on the naighbors land where i was just being made to bounce is ok, no bouncing

i walked a few steps again, back to bouncing
i am now bouncing my way across akea and am underwater

i don't know where i am going buy i am making damn good time.

this has not happen to me in 8 months of being here.

what is going on?

i have been having some weirdness with my usb keyboard.

i wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I have noticed that after a teleport bug, that I begin moving as if the ground ceased to exist.

I think at that point, the SL servers have become confused as to your actual location which drives your client nuts.

The only cure I have found is to relog. And, alas, living on the corner of a sim, any movement to an adjacent sim is effectively a teleport - so you may experience this more than most.

Ancient mariners used to draw monsters at the edges of their maps, I wonder if sim borders will get that distinction :)

SuezannC,

The latest version has been a bit unstable for me, as well. I've never had a lot of trouble in the past, but with the latest version I am constantly getting stuck in mid air, and having to reload sl.

If you're having problems at the border of four sims, it's possible that you're too close to the border. The exact corner of the sim can be tricky.

When this happens, check your minimap. If the values are greater or less than 0-256, you're not actually IN the sim your client seems to think you're in.

As I said before, the problem is likely that you're moving into one sim before fully entering the previous one.

This happens alot to me when I'm a crowded area.

During the Mad Newbie Rush of 2004 (after the REuters article), when I was helping newbies at the welcoming area, I would become trapped in Morris for hours at a time because my client simply refused to hand over to the next sim.

Kinda aggravating.

This happens quite often if you move from one sim to a second to a third too fast -- a very common occurence at sim corners. Try to spend at least five seconds in any given sim.
