Transparency won't turn off on some objects

I came up empty on a search for this topic, or I'm just not very good with keywords, so I'm posting it in case others have seen it.

I have a couple of PCs now showing the light red highlight to random transparent objects, even when Ctrl-Alt-T has been used, shutting it on and off. As you toggle the Ctrl-Alt-T, other transparent objects are revealed alongside the ones that are always there. Some just never stop showing up.

I thought maybe Show Updates, but it was off, and when I toggled it, nothing changed. Any ideas on what to try? It doesn't do this in the RC, but I'd really like to use the main client for other reasons, if possible

"Beacons Always On" under the View menu will do this. CTRL-N toggles it on and off.
