This happens, at odd times... what is it saying Charlie? Requesting Log out or Logging out?
Requesting log out runs until it times out, an extended "Requesting log out" usually happens when your client looses connection with the SL servers or your client dropping a lot of packets. an extended "Logging out" message might be caused by a cache issue (might not be, I dunno exactly) your computer dropping network packets, or downright computer slowness. _____________________

I get this constantly. No clue why. Doesn't bother me, since, I don't really use my laptop for anything else, I am in no rush to close SL.

Yes Christohper as vague as it sounded its the logout (the final thing you see as the client closes. The "just b4 desktop"
![]() Well it cant be computer slowness as I am running a rather fast 2.8 P4. I almost never have real bad packet loss anymore since my computer upgrade. I ran a 1400 mhz Athlon before and it never hung like this at close, but the packet loss on that system and visual lag (FPS) was horrible. So go figure lol I dunno. <shrug> _____________________

Yeah, this always happens to me too. Not a random occurrance, it's happened ever since I started playing. I just figured the logout process was slow.

This has always happened to me as well. Didn't really think anything of it until I signed into another pc and when I went to log out it immediately closed. Hhmmm. Interesting.

Ok, so I did some testing, and found out what this is.
SL, as we all know, leaks memory like a river. After a few hours, the game process may be using anywhere up to about 1GB of resident memory. When you go to log off, after it logs out and the process is ending, your system now has to release all this memory. Due to how Windows maintains memory (poorly) a lot of it gets put in a page file. I watched my lovely page file go from 1.2GB (SL Running) and upon reaching the end of the log off bar, start shrinking. Right as SL's window closed, the PF usage was down to 100MB, and the window closed and memory usage became stable. |
