I've never had my computer have any problems running anything, but its not liking SL. Soon after I log in, it will always start lagging so badly I have to shut it down, and often runs into errors and crashes. Do I have some setting on i shouldnt, or is my comp not par? my knowledge of computers is limited, so ill list off the stats my comp gives me..
intelcore 2 duo processor T7100 (1.8 GHz, MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache) mobile intel graphics media accelerator x3100 1gb ddr2 160 gb hdd 802. 11a/b/g WLAN
any ideas how i can make this work?

Looks like your graphics card is not up to snuff. Go into "Preferences" and turn it to the lowest settings if it isn't by default.

Have you ever played any other 3D games on it? Built-in Intel graphics are absolutely dreadful for anything 3D. If this is a laptop you're talking about, you're more or less out of luck, although you might get a little boost out of another GB of RAM (or 2GB if you're running Vista). If it's a desktop, get yourself an NVIDIA or ATI graphics card tout de suite.

Windows Key + R > cmd > OK Type in: ping google.com Press the Enter key. Do you get all replies? Is the latency (called "time" in the output) under 100ms? If so, then your wireless is fine and isn't the problem. Instead, the problem is with the x3100. Make sure your drivers are up to date. The latest driver on www.intel.com is from 5/28/08, and the version is 15.9.1472

From: Milla Janick You need more of that. Absolutely correct, I didn't even notice that. The x3100 will take up to 384MB RAM when doing anything graphically intensive, which only leaves 640MB to the applications and OS. That would most certainly cause performance issues (relating to heavy paging).

CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2199 MHz) Memory: 3839 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (Build 6001) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce 7100 / NVIDIA nForce 630i/PCI/SSE2 OpenGL Version: 2.1.2 Wireless G, desktop wirles is not the problem, it's indeed the Intel chip. if it's a laptop, you're sol, update ram, up page file. if it's a desktop, get an nvidia in the thing. (ati is NOT a gamers card)

people claim wireless is a problem way too often... and its rarely a problem. If you are having general connectivity issues to the wireless router, it will be a problem in SL too, but other than that its usually fine. Some people claim it will slow down SL because wireless is slower than wired, which is also misleading. If you have a 10mbps internet connection, running it over 54mbps wireless isnt going to make it any slower... and running it on 1000mbps wired isn't going to make it any faster.... your connection will still be around 10mbps max.

aye, wireless is no the issue 99.99999% of the time
think about it, best case you have a 10mb cable modem connected to atleast a 54mb wireless network, with good signal your good to go, i run SL over 802.11 all the time with out any ill effects
where it gets you into trouble is wireless ISP's, or public connections .. my clearwire connection is only 1mb, over 2 computers, upto 4 if i have the xbox on and the spare computer running and its quite drag ass, but it does not effect my "speed", just takes its sweet time loading up everything in a dense area
same with cellular connections, 300kb cel connection is going to take its sweet time loading but its not going to effect how fast your computer is running the program, you just see alot of grey boxes at X fps
other than loading latency is the other issue, if your on your own home wireless network you are not going to have much if any ... my clearwire does not really have that much of an issue either, cel networks will have more, but its due to the nature of the network, again this has nothing to do with the speed that your computer is rendering at, you will just simply stop for a bit of time

I make these coments as my signal was at 90%

i can make a wirless connection half as fast in a second
use 128bit wep, theres almost half gone right there
using psk's i can get a full 54mbs almost 200 yards out (to my mailbox) with almost no latency at 30% signal
(and its more secure since its not broadcasting your encryption key to everyone in the hood)

Upgrade your drivers if you can.
What are your graphics set to in preferences / graphics?
When it runs into errors and crashes, does it give you error messages? If so, which ones?
Have you tried different places?
Do you wear primmy hair?
