Hi This is my first ever post on here so my apologies if it's in the wrong place or it's a dumb question! A friend of mine joined sl on Sunday 22nd... so is brand new... and inworld looks great on his screen... buildings and environments are crystal clear  But avis look... well.. VERY weird. Every avatar looks like a scarecrow with no head (I have screen shots of this but don't know how to put them on here). Any suggestions as to what problem may be? How to solve it? Any and all help most gratefully received. Thank you lv |

This question comes up frequently. Search the forums for words like "scarecrow" and "tattered" and you will see some of the other threads. The solution, I believe, is to turn off the "hardware skinning" option in the custom graphics preferences. More information in the other threads on the topic.

Oh thank you SO much - i guess i should have searched forums before posting - but had no idea what search terms to use! We're trying the hardware skinning thing right now *crosses fingers and toes*
