The Radeon 9600 doesn't have any issues with SL as you've described. It's possible your card is defective.

yep one of two problems 1. bad monitor try to plug this monitor into an secondary computer if that doesn't work yes its a defective graphics card call ATI or w/e there customer service procedure is and they should be happy to send you another one. i'm sure its on some kind of warranty for at least 6 months to a year.

but frankly your man problem is buying ATI in the first place over priced piece of shits. nvidia always the way to go. :)

Generally this could be caused from a defect either from the factory or an overheating defect.

It can also be a direct result of Antialising being on when it shouldnt be, or off when it needs to be on. Check this in Preferences, Graphics, Hardware Settings and if it's off, try each option if you are able to.

Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects generally shouldnt cause this issue, though it's possible, very unlikely.

Does this change or disappear if you change your quality and performance from low, to mid, to high, to ultra or in reverse?

Sometimes this can be caused by Vsync being on as well.

Nvidia cards are by far the best way to go. The two times I have went ATI over Nvidia, I really did regret doing it, and ended up getting rid of the ATI.
