Hi, i´ve installed SL on a computer with a Nvidia 8600 Gt graphic card...The problem was that when i tried to run SL the following message appeared "Second Life is unable to run because your graphic card drivers did not install propetly, are out of date or are for an unsupported hardware" .

Well, i have seen the requirements for SL and the computer has te proper requirements for it to run. Also my graphic card driver is up to date...However i reinstalled it and the same message appeared...

My OS is windows XP.

Any sugestions on how can i fix this problem? I would be glad to see some feedback.

Same card I have. I'm running Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I can only tell you what I did when I updated my drivers and found SL to not work for me (after months of no problems with that card, Vista and SL). For some reason nVidia's driver did not agree with SL (all other programs showed no problems). I started downloading older driver versions in sequence starting from the newest to older. Installed them one at a time until SL worked for me again. The first driver version I came to that worked is 169.25.

One question for you. When you updated your driver, did you uninstall the older one(s) first? That is something that is pretty important.........drivers are funny programs. Any little bit of garbage in the software package causes them to fail. If you decide to follow what I did and step back to an older driver, before you do that try going back to nVidia's site and download the most recent driver to your hard drive. Then uninstall all nVidia drivers listed in your add/remove. Restart and when Windows finds your new hardware (it will see the card without a driver and think it's a new device) close the dialog box.........don't let Windows search or attempt to install any driver for you card. Go to where you saved the downloaded driver and install from there. It might be a good idea to turn off or disable your anti virus durring the installation too.

Good luck.

Well, i have uninstalled the graphic card driver before reinstalling the newer version and in the middle of the process i have rebooted the pc for a sure cleaning of the older files... The instalation of older drivers is indeed a very good ideia although its strange how nvidia driver don´t agree with SL because nvidia is the most recommended driver for playing SL according to the official website...

Anyway, can you tell me from which website did you downloaded the version that you´re refering to? i would be very appreciated.

Thanks for helping

To find archived drivers on nVidia's site look just below the search window for current drivers. Click on "Beta and Archived Drivers"

You'll get another search box which you simply fill in like before.

But here is the page that contains the driver in question:
