can't edit ANY skin options in appearance mode!?!?

i can modify all the appearance options except the skin. i can't change her skin color, face details, make up or body details. everthing else works fine.
when i first signed up (like 3 days ago) i picked the gothic chick av out of the list of 10 male and female avs that i could choose from. would that have anything to do with this problem? (she was white as a ghost and i don't think she had makeup on either)
any advice would be helpful

Most skins are no mod. You probably need to get another skin you like better in order to replace what you are now wearing.

Also, only the default system skin or texture skin made using translucent areas will respond to the sliders. If a skin is completely opaque the slider changes won't show. Translucent skins are made to respond to the sliders but most people buy skins with makeup they like (skins usually have a range of tones and make-ups so you can buy whatever you like).

Some free skins are very good, but they will be more common.

Did you get and put on a different skin since you signed up? Many (more like most) of the resident-created skins don't allow modifications, and many of those that do allow modifications have those features painted over so you won't really see any changes.

In general, if you want to use the sliders to control skin, wear one from your library folder. If you want one of the different looks you can get with non-Linden skins, pick one that already has the features you want painted on.

But even some of the Linden skins have things painted on, I think the panda eyeshadow on the female goth skin might be like that. So go ahead and experiment with different skins.
