The apparently pretty typical 'unsupported/out of date' drivers error...except I'm using the latest available drivers.
Athlon4800 2c
4Gb RAM
8600 GT - 169.32 drivers
Vista 64 ultimate
I've got a bajillion games from SimCity 4 to FEAR, HL2, and WoW that run fine, but SL won't even launch. Clues, please?

Hey ive been using the driver set 169.44 which has worked great with SL from the nvidia archives

i used the 174 set and they caused me a lil bit of problems so just a fair warning on those. i had some issues with sl too as in my other post but switching to those 169.44 drivers and turning my User account controls off actually helped quite a bit.

Hey, thanks for your help. No love on the 174 either - same error. I've now blown about three hours trying to make this happen...which means it's officially no longer worth bothering with. I'd love to play SL and all, but not bad enough to revert my OS/spend days tweaking/pull my hair out looking for that one special driver that will make SL run while hosing WoW, HL2, Vue, Maya, Photoshop, Bryce...not worth the trouble. Thanks very much for your help, though! (Glad I didn't pay for an account *first*....) |
