I wonder if someone could help me with a problem I have please.

I have a small object which I am trying to precisely position. When I click and drag on the arrows to move the object closer, I seem to have very little control. Its impossible to make small moves in any direction (it tends to shoot off into the distance) and it doesn't always move in the direction I want it to go.

Someone suggested there may be a problem with my mouse, which is infrared.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

That could just be a symptom of lag... I've had it to some incredibly annoying things to my edits. :) It could also be your relative view position to the object you're editing: trying to move it towards or away from the camera can be harrowing; it's best when moving objects to try to position the camera so it's moving across your field of view.

If you're editing an object, you could just numerically position it, using the position fields in the edit window. Unfortunately, if you're editing an attached object, you can't do this. :(

Thanks for your advice Cross. Because I normally have such difficulty with moving items within edit, I do use the position fields, but you don't always have the option of doing that if its an attachment, as you say.

Unfortunately there's a leakage bug between the numeric fields, such that (for example) you type a number into Y, then on pressing return it suddenly appears in the X slot or Z slot. Darn annoying, makes prims go walkies. Not infrequent either, it's happened maybe 30 times or so now, so I try to use the spinners instead, or just change a single digit at a time rather than the whole field.

We seem to be struggling with bugs a lot recently. I hope it's actually getting better and not worse.
