First off, I meant to post this here and not in general discussion, but for some reason it won't let me delete the thread in general discussion, so if a mod could do that for me thanks. Anyways, as I am trying the game it worked pretty good, bad lag, but that is expected in beta. The first hour, guns worked fine and would fire. After a while, everytime I equipped a gun, (say right hand) it would be on my right foot, and on the other hand it would be backwards and floating a foot behind my hand. So I play with it and get it edited properly in my hand so it looks normal. Still couldn't shoot. So I re-equip them (worked once before) but again, I couldn't fire, and the guns were in weird places again! I get them reset properly, re-equip, etc...still can't fire. Rince and repeat 5 times and I say screw it. This was before and after one of the servers was having problems, but no matter where I was, that is what was happening. The guns should be auto-equipping in my hand properly. Anyone else had this issue?

I'm not any sort of scripting genius, but I think when you put items anywhere other than where they were made for and move it around, you may have to reset the script (if that is possible -- some creators don't allow you to access what they have written). I'm not SURE if this is the fix or if it even has anything to do with it, but it might help you out:
1. Drag the object on to the ground and right click to edit. 2. Go into the Contents tab and click on the script twice to open it. 3. Click the reset button, then close everything box.
One thing of note is that you should have it in the position you want it and on the LIMB you want it attached to before doing all this, otherwise you have to go 1 2 3 all over again.
I'm sure that if this isn't it someone will say so. If it really is some sort of bug, it may or may not have been reported -- you're certainly welcome to do the same through your help menu in-game. As said, not sure if this is it.. but hey, what can it hurt? ^.~

I attached my gun to the right place, and it went there, but, after a while (usually going through a sim boundry), it wouldn't fire anymore. I was able to shoot it a few times, and then it stopped.

Having nothing to do with guns, I was working on a visual effect for a friend last night. I had to take her item, attach my addition, and give it back. When she equipped the item, whenever she would move, it would appear to "leave" her hand and float around on it's own (it would not "follow" her hand). So whenever she typed or would idle gesture it would look all whackady. All I did was attach a graphic with an alpha channel to make a sunbeam effect; no scripts or anything.

Yeah I am sure it's not just to do with weapons, but relogging does not solve the problem. It never goes to a normal grip state.

There was some wierdness last night. The question whether I'd allow the item to affect my animations etc popped up when I UNEQUIPPED an attachment, rather than when equipping it. Relogging did fix it once, and had no effect once, so I think it's probably just lag related.

Relogging did fix it once, and had no effect once, so I think it's probably just lag related. i've actually had this problem repeatedly . i've double-triple-extra-supersize-checked my scripts, and it is set to ask for permissions when it is ATTACHED (i.e. the key passed to attach() != NULL_KEY), yet it doesn't ask, and when i remove it, it asks me. it's not lag, because i've attached then detached an item within 5 seconds, and it asks when i detach. then i'll reattach the same item, run around the game with it all night, and as soon as i detach it, it asks me. enough fiddling with the object gets it to reset properly... between resetting the script, dropping the item, moving it in and out of my inventory, and relogging, i will eventually get it to ask me when i ATTACH it.
