It's nice to have a ''buddy list". It makes it easy to IM your friends, etc. However, I just figured out the way in which a person can track you, if they have your calling card. I didn't realize until today, that it is a feature on the map. DUH!
The way it had been expressed to me before, I thought that you needed some special ''tools'' to find a person.
I have to say that even things like Yahoo Msg have more privacy. I am wondering if SL can make a feature possible so that one can be invisible to the map.
I can see reasons why ppl would like the existing feature, I guess. But, I don't like it at all.

Glyth, the reason people are after an "invisible" mode is because sometimes they just don't want other people to be able to come bug them. It doesn't matter their personal motivation, whether it's because they're working, relaxing with friends, or yes, even cybering. To show up in the "Online" list can be inconvenient for people who want to do something else. Not everyone uses SL for the same reason.

Personally, I think it's more about personal ''safety'' & not wanting to be annoyed. There are many scenarios that would make this an ideal tool for griefers and online stalkers to bother you to death.
And, so now you say 'just delete their cards'. Well, think about this... (this is just one of many scenarios possible)
You have a "friend" that has your card. And, you think all is cool with that "friend", but things really aren't for them. So, they get the bright idea to either create a new acct. or they already have ones that you don't know about. So, they just sign on the "friendly" acct. Track your location. And, on their other PC, they sign in the "unfriendly" acct. and there you go. Your "unfriendly" is ready to annoy the heck out of you.
...just a thought or two.
