Was surprised I didn't see this posted...
After installing 0.5.0, whenever you walk over "floor" of any kind (like an elevator, a house floor, a bridge), you seem to just randomly fall through now and then. I fell completely through Catherine Omegas house, my own house, my elevator, Rygars place, the bridges all around Rygars area, etc. I was moving fine and didn't appear to have any lag.

I had a few floor falls in a few sims too, and at my place, my whole cabin just dissapeared, and the lamps I made come and go. I also lost my Vote box. Kinda stinks...but meh...this is still a Beta

falling through floors, etc

This is possibly linked to a specific user-created object which if exists within a sim, can possible interfere with the physics enginer's collision code.

Hmm...?

I read the post...all it says is that Bel Muse's fish tank may have caused issue here and there and that they need to go. To my knowledge, none of the places that I fell through (maybe Cate's) had the fishtank...but if there is some common attribute that is applied to the fishtank somehow that is appearing in nearly every structure I walked around in yesterday in second life, in numerous sims, I sure would like to know what that attribute/script/texture/behavior is so we can all stop using it. That is, unless one of those fishtanks anywhere in the world can have this drastic global effect, in which case I say...way to find those armegeddon bugs Bel?
Would make a good signature...
"Beware my bugged fishtank!"

They are saying that if the fish tank is any where on the sim, then the whole sim has this problem.
I would like to know what it is about the fish tank that causes this problem, so I can avoid reproducing it, and cuz I'm just curious.

Walking through walls
04-02-2003 17:05
Not falling through floors, but, I have a big cube of a workshop and I managed to walk through all four walls of it.
On another note, I'm also getting the afterhours problem of deleting an object and having it not delete.

From: someone Originally posted by Kayleigh Murphy Not falling through floors, but, I have a big cube of a workshop and I managed to walk through all four walls of it. Added note: I recreated the the "walk through walls effect" in my shop cube and noticed I can fly/fall through the ceiling as well. However, my house, which is right next to it, I cannot walk through. I thought at first that it was a bug with one large primative, but the roof of my house is the same as the roof of my shop, and I don't fall through that.

All of the "collisionless objects" problems I encountered yesterday were caused by Bel Muse's "Angel Fish 7.0" script. If a scripted fish showed up then many of the objects in that sim would cease to collide, but not all. Some of them would actually collide.
The script on the fish was somehow inserting NAN's (NAN = Not A Number) into the physics engine which would confuse the collision detection code.
Many thanks to Bel for bringing this bug into the light. We're working on it and will hopefully have a fix out soon.
In the meantime, please don't make any of Bel's fish. Thanks.

Identify and Remove those scripts?
04-03-2003 07:03
Yes Ann I mention in my post that the bug is sim wide and that it would be useful to know what property/routine was used so we can avoid it.
I'm wondering what we can do to help. Aside from removing items that you own, what else can we do? Natoma for example remains broken (as do others), and I looked everywhere for anything that might look like a fish tank so I could identify the owner...who may not play anymore, doesn't read the boards, or what have you (I didn't find one). While that script lives out there, elevators are usually useless and buildings are often transparent, which drastically effects gameplay. Is there any way to globally identify where these objects/scripts are so they can be admin purged or something?
What's confusing me about it being a single script is that I didn't have the problem with the previous client, and was on late the night before the new one was put out, then logged in at 7 p.m. EST sharp with the new client, and immediately had the problem, so unless somebody moved that script into Natoma during the off hours that day...
My house can't support visitors! Pun definitely intended.
Sorry to be a bother.

Names Ama with an M not ann. Sorry, your post did not make it clear that you checked out the entire sim, in fact it seems clearly implied that you were relating the problem to individual structures ("if there is some common attribute that is applied to the fishtank somehow that is appearing in nearly every structure" . You even seemed to ask about the range of effect the fish tanks had ("That is, unless one of those fishtanks anywhere in the world can have this drastic global effect" . Hence my post, sorry for any misinterpretation.
