I dont have a clue where to post this.... but something is terribly wrong with my avi.

Her whole torso is a "color" the face and legs are the normal skin.

I have tried changing skins several times to see if it is just the skin, or something wrong all togheter, but all the skins seem to be messed up on the torso?

Any idea what the problem is and what can I do?

I got a similar issue.
Just started out of nowhere.
Black lines all over my face.
The other sides is just as bad.

Hello, I'm having a similar problem to biancajane's. Half of me is one colour, the rest is the normal skin colour. It happened after updating to the new viewer today. Have tried on many different skins to see, and the majority appear messed up.

UPDATE - Thanks to Biancajane Juliesse I got it fixed. The method was to switch to a different skin (any), and go to Advanced - Rendering - Features - Palletized Textures, which by default is X'd. Click it to drop the X. Then switch back to the skin you had trouble with, and give it a few seconds or minutes even.

Depending on the viewer you are using, you may have to do this each time you log on. Biancajane recommended I try a Test Viewer * which was available, and with it, I do not have to tweak the setting each time I log on. It also puts the X back on Palletized Textures without any negative effect on the skin.

Weird stuff but there u go :)

I had the same issue with black lines on my avatar. are you using two screens? I was using an external 22" display attached to my laptop. If i put the SL client window on the secondary display the black stripes and artifacts would appear. If I put the SL client window on the primary display and rebake it's fine, black stripes are gone. hope this helps.

This is a bug with running the new SL client with Nvidia cards..There's a jira on it

LL seems to be taking the view that it's Nvidia's fault :-O. (In otherwords there has been no apparent attempt to fix it despite it's being an acknowledged problem)

Read on another forum that with the latest Nvidia drivers that were released 19/15/08 the Unchecking Paletized Textures workaround doesn't work.

The bug was introduced with the 121 series clients. I have reverted to the last 120 version client to avoid the problem so I can have the latest Nvidia drivers for other aplications

NVIDIA cards the problem? Not.

The NVIDIA cards are certainly not the problem. When my avatar had a beard and dark face, I did showed someone else and they saw it in world. After unchecking the palletized textures and re-baking (Ctrl-Alt R) I was suddenly back to normal.

If this was a problem with the NVIDIA cards, the problem would only be seen by me, not by everyone.

Also, the effects go away when I edit appearance. This is definitely a problem with the viewer.

The card is used in the baking process, so the card and its drivers do matter, even (especially) for the version of your avatar that others see. That is why it works to turn off palletized textures, Nvidia has dropped support for the way SL used them.
