I spoke about this on jira too, but they said it was a Open GL issue and not a client one but it should be 6 lights overall. Anyway yeah, if I have many primitives with the lightning flag turned on which cast lightning, only the three closest ones to me render and it looks pretty bad. Is there any way to let it render more? At least 6 like I heard it's normal? What issue or setting in OpenGL could be causing it to not render as many lights any more?
Using the SL client Second Life 1.19.1 (4), OpenGL Version: 2.1.7537 Release, Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. - Graphics Card: Radeon X1300/X1550 Series and my video driver uses Catalyst Control Center for adjustments. I am also running on the OpenSim server side and not the LL grid if that matters any, but that shouldn't be important as the prims are all in the same spots and with lightning on so it's more then certain a client or driver issue.

Does noone know about this issue at all? I still can't get it to work and wondering what to do to make it render 6 lights like it should (or more then that if possible). I'd like to know as it really doesn't look that great wish such a small number of simultaneous lights...

IT should render 6. I think everyone understands your issue. But, no one can think of a reason why it is happening. As far as I know this issue has not come up before.

Luckily in the new rendering system that might be coming out soon lighting has been vastly improved. Along with real time shadows, the client will be able to render unlimited simultaneous light sources. You can check this client out of LL's public svn if interested at http://svn.secondlife.com/trac/linden/browser/branches/shadow-draft

Haha.........can't wait till all the manufacturers of Laptops get those $400 mini tabs out to the public.

From: Dante Tucker might be coming out soon I doubt it's all that soon in coming. We just relatively recently got Windlight, and the Shadow Draft is nowhere near stable. We may be seeing a First Look shadow draft viewer in the coming months, but if I recall correctly Windlight was in First Look for something like 8 months before they classified it as 'stable' or whatever and moved it to it's own set of viewers, and then another 2 or 3 months before it was moved to the main viewer. A stable Shadow-Draft client is not likely to come out very soon, but we can certainly hope for at least a first look within a few months.

Thanks for the info. I seen the Shadow Draft client and yeah I am waiting for it. I didn't know it also changes the lightning system too... hope it will be released as first look pretty soon.

Sorry, I was not trying to say "Hey shadow-draft is the answer to all your troubles!" It just seemed relevant to his interests with more light sources.

From: Peggy Paperdoll ....all those $399 E-Machine users?.... Hey there, my computer cost $357. Iv'e redone it and added to it so much now though that it runs crysis on full settings with average 35fps. So don't diss those cheap emachines *giggles*

If it changes the lightning system then it does solve my problem too so yeah. But until Shadow Draft will be a First Look (as it will probably be months, don't know how to use SL's SVN and what to compile it with) if anyone may happen to know why I only get 3 lights instead of 6 and tell me how to fix this it would help.

How are you determining you only get three lights? If you're in the middle of an existing build or if you have attachments you could very well be getting 6 but not notice three of them and think you're only getting three. In case you haven't tried yet: find an empty sim with build enabled, rez a prim, sit, set height to 2000m (or whatever else random, just as long as nothing else is around), detach *everything* and rez 6 prims around you and turn the light on one by one and count how many you get.

No I don't have any attachments with lights on them I made sure of that. I also looked clearly at exact light sources, and I'm sure I only see 3 (the closest to my avatar), without any light sources around that I could not know of.
