Reformatted my PC and got the latest AMD/ATI drivers.
Started up second life and it's in a strange window'd resolution , I can max the window with the 'Square' button on the top right like any program though thankfully. But the strange thing is, 1280x1024 isnt listed in the resoltuions and fullscreen isnt default (fullscreen window not fullscreen with no taskbar).
Anti aliasing is always on which is strange, It's not enabled on the options either, Ive turned on ansio tropic filtering and tried fiddling with AA, its not going away at all. I can run SL with AA, but AA is the devil, matching it with SL and unoptimized devil is not a good thing in my book so I run it without, but I cant since ive reinstalled.
Strange goings on!
Ive got a Radeon HD4850 with the latest drivers if its any constellation, XP home SP3 etc etc

Open up the Radeon Catalyst control panel. You may have FSAA turned on there.

Even turning off VBO in SL's options doesnt do anything which is surprising. That option is normally on by default when I install SL and it causes graphics artifacts, turning it off makes it normal.
Does the SL viewer MAKE you use AA or something? Really cant suss this one out
Edit: Real strange this is. Rolled back to older ATI drivers and its not changed. The default window is some strange 830x something resolution. When I maximize the window it's saying its 1280x960, which isnt even my monitors resolution which is 1280x1024. Something fishing going on here....

Do you have user interface scaling turned on and set to something other than 1:1?

The UI scale? Its on 1.00 and resolution dependant Getting alot of strange behavior from SL. When I change AA to on, the screen goes black. If I do it before I logon I get lots of strange 'unloaded' images for buttons and the login screen changes color. The resolutions surely have to have something to do with my monitor? I can only choose 1024x768 max which is strange and I have NTSC and PAL settings?! http://i32.tinypic.com/3vl9v.jpg

When you run SL in a window, the window sizes it provides are more or less pointless. I think they're only there for people who want to take snapshots for desktop wallpaper, or to give people a few easy defaults. I ignore them and just resize the window from the corner. I'm talking about the user interface settings. As far as I can tell "Use resolution-independent scale" means "run everything though a gaussian blur effect", at least that's the effect it has on my monitor.

The UI Scale was on 1.00. I tried turning off resolution dependant scaling and it also didnt change anything. Im running out of ideas really. The ati CCC doesnt do anything, all of the options have been checked. Wow SL really wants AA on
