Newview.exe crashes when attempting stereo 3D with latest Nvidia video driver, 56.56 and latest Nvidia stereo 3D driver.

First, the bad news :
when you want to use the nvidia 3d stereo drivers, you must use matching nvidia display drivers and 3d stereo drivers i.e. right now that's the 45.23 set from 08/13/03 - you can't use the latest display drivers with the 'old-but-current' 3d drivers. Second, the worse news : Secondlife doesn't work with the current nvidia 3d stereo drivers. There are several threads in the forum about it, have a search. G |

G Actually, the latest Nvidia 3D Stereo Drivers are version 56.56, matching the current Nvidia Video Drivers version 56.56. Alas, I can get them to work in other programs, but newview.exe (a.k.a. the SL client) crashes whenever 3D mode is enabled. |

The Nvidia site doesn't even list the new 3d driver. For Shame! G PS. Thanks Hank! I've been waiting for these all year. |

Yeah, 56.56 stereo is available. But it crashes newview.exe. WAAHH!!

This must be what is causing me to crash as soon as SL boots up... I think the longest I have been in SL since reinstalling the program has been 30 seconds before newview crashes on me.

In terms of its 3D hardware requirements, SecondLife is not a game. It would be more accurate to compare it to a high-end professional 3D graphics package, and those usually have very specific requirements as to which video cards, which versions of which drivers, and which operating systems they'll work with.
