Some of you may have seen my mHUDs...you rez one, it does some math related to your position and height, and settles in front of your jaw, so that in mouselook, you can see it. When you move, it follows you around and re-settles when you are still for a second.

Sometimes, however, the mHUD would just seem to be "off". It would hover up to 1/10 of a meter in the wrong direction, but otherwise still worked fine. This of course made it unusuable; 1/10th of a meter behind your head or off to the left is no good, you can't see it in mouselook anymore.

After dozens of tests to repro the conditions to generate the error and/or find it in code (attachments, ducking, getting hit, etc.), and failing, I started assuming that it was a problem with AV visual vs. actual orientation. So, the next time I got an "off" mHUD, I destroyed it and rez'd another; the new one found the same "off" spot as the old one. Then I left that mHUD running, and logged out/in. On reentering, the mHUD sensor found me, and oriented perfectly. So, something had been "reset".

I figured that was my workaround; tell people that sometimes, they're AV center would just be "off", and they'd have to log to fix it.

Then yesterday, I had an "off" mHUD up, and didn't destroy it right away; first, I took an object I was working on into inventory. There was that little pause as it loaded into my inventory tree...

...and the mHUD reoriented itself perfectly. My center was fixed.

Anyway, I know that moving objects in and out of inventory generally has a "reset" or "save" effect on your overall character state. But the fact that your center can suddenly seem to be just "off" would appear to be a bug.
