I've been experiencing the worst ever problems. Started a few days ago where i would move for a few seconds then stall for a few seconds. Kinda like moving like a robot. Not like the usual lag that i experience. any suggestions would be appreciated. I have cleared caches, uninstalled, reinstalled SL viewer. same thing happens when i used emerald and snowglobe. so now i only have the SL viewer installed but still the problem remains. I do have my latest graphic card driver installed. Ive only had issues with SL. I can watch videos etc on my puter with no prob. anyone know what gives? Ive got a support ticket in place but they are taking forever to respond. Anyone???

The most common cause of what you are discribing is a network connection problem. You can often fix it with a simple resetting of your modem and router (if one is in place).
But, be aware that SL has been acting strange the last fews days or week. I sometimes have the same problem as you discribed and it is not the router or modem........just LL's slowed servers. These bouts of lag usually pass in a few days. But, the resetting of the router and modem is easy, quick and painless.......it's worth a try. |

I have severe network problems since weeks back, and I written about it, I have used WinMTR, SpeednetTest and PingnetTest. I have all the data on my Flickr page, since posting images or even url's doesn't work on this forum. So here's the url to my Flickr page, but you have to copy and paste it in the address bar of your browser:

The servers for SL are located in two places in the US........San Francisco, CA and Dallas, TX. Rumors are that LL has plans to put a server location somewhere in Europe..........but, with the world economy (especially the US economy) those plans are very likely put on hold. A server farm is not and inexpensive undertaking. It's unfortunate for users who happen to be located so far from the servers but, it's a fact of life that there is not much anyone can do to remedy the problem right now. I pulled the same tests as you from my location in Southern California about 200 miles from the San Francisco test servers and 1500 miles from the Dallas servers. Both those tests almost mimicked your test to your Dublin location.......slightly better but close enough to say it's about the same. My test to the Dublin server again nearly mimicked your tests to San Francisco. It's the distance. Nothing you can do unless you move closer which is most likely not going to happen.........or LL opens a server farm closer to you which might happen.........if and when that may happen is not known and probably won't be known until there's a break in the economic situation. Crying about it is not going to make it happen sooner. Besides, I don't think the OP is having the same issue as you. |

Thanks for doing the tests, this is what I was wondering about. ![]() |
