i'd like to install SL on a laptop that has been loaned to me, but i need to return it in the exact same condition i received it in, so i need to know if SL puts files anywhere besides its own directory, and if so, what and where, so i can make sure they're removed properly when i unistall SL from the laptop. yes, i am that addicted to SL: i'm willing to play it on dialup on an underpowered laptop

You will not be so willing after the first 10minutes or less on dial up. There is a reason the game doesn't support it, its not playable.
That said, the uninstaller works great. Neither I nor one other person has been able to find any trace of it after using the default uninstaller.

don't knock the dialup. a few weeks ago, i played SL on dialup, getting dialup speeds of only 43kbps. tonight, i have 50.6kbps edit: unfortunately, this laptop seems a bit TOO underpowered, and under-updated * only has DX7 * ATI Rage PRO 2 * 128MB PC100 RAM guess i'll just have to idle on the forums while you guys have all the fun

Second Life follows the standard Windows guidelines about where to place files:
Read-only files live in Program Files/SecondLIfe. Read-write files live in Documents and Settings/<user name>/Application Data/SecondLife.
Notes: Application Data is a standard hidden folder on Windows XP. You may need to change your Folder Options to see it.
There is one <user name> folder per account that has run SecondLife.
Hope this helps! Aaron
