I have tried to log onto this game on my laptop. It wants to shutdown at log in. I have checked everything associated with the game and can't find any issues although for some reason it is putting the windows shield up on the shortcut. My laptop passes all the requirements for this game and my drivers are currently up to date. But it crashes before I can log in. When I try to send crash report that too will not send.

Has anyone else had this issue? Please help me.

System specs?

The sheild on an icon means the associated program needs administrator privileges to run. You shouldn't be seeing it on the SL shortcut. The shortcut to the installer might show it, but the one for the program itself shouldn't. Did you perhaps set it to run in a compatibility mode or something?

Toshiba Satellite A215-S7444

200 GB HDD, ATI X1200 Graphics card, AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TL-58, 2048 MB DDR2 SDRAM, Vista home edition...anything else you need on specs?

I have tried everything..including going into permission settings....can't seem to find out how to fix the problem.

This shield is showing up on the icon on my desktop.

Almost certainly, your problem is your integrated graphics processor. Intergrated graphics almost never works for SL. You need a real graphics card.

Sorry to have to tell you this, but your earlier statement that your notebook "passes all requirements for this game" was incorrect. The IGP you have is not supported, and unfortunately you can't upgrade the graphics hardware without replacing the whole machine.

Have you tried a simpler client, like Nicholaz Old School? http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Alternate_viewers
I can run SL on an ASUS 600 notebook w/ Old School.

May not help if you are really talking about gaming. Most of us do not think of SL as a game. <g> I haven't tried sword fighting in Old School yet. The computer has some other problems and I have to exchange it. But I can definitely get around and see a fairly good, if simplified, world.
