Can we please NOT have this next to 'snapshot?'
I hate wasting $10 because I accidentally clicked snapshot trying to get off a vehicle and the client lagged at an inopportune moment.

While I agree with you, I suggest there be a approval dialog or a preview with a "save" button that upon clicking THEN you get charged 10L$ for Snapshot. The auto-upload(and charge) of snapshots has been a big pet peeve of mine for some time now. While 10L$ isn't very much, it still will effect you in the long run and every cent counts. It can't be a very hard feature to add to do an approval and/or preview dialog. If a Linden can give me a good reason for not putting in this feature I will shut up about it. The 'Stand Up' button is highly buggy right now, sometimes it randomly switches from Fly to Stand Up when no one is even around me. I've also found when someone sits down on the ground next to you it switches to 'Stand Up' (reported). The placement of it is a bit weird, I don't really hate it yet, but I don't really love it. While its a good use of the Fly button (since Fly becomes pointless while sitting anyway), it is an odd placement since "Release Keys" and "Mouse Look" are still in the same place, also its not very noticable, took me a few mins to even realize it had changed after I sat down and didn't see the button and thought they totaly eliminated it and didn't notice the text change on Fly untill later when I sat down again. Overall right now I'm mutual about the change. But Snapshot DEFINITLY NEEEDS TO BE CHANGED IN SOME WAY! (caps intended, and preferbly changed with a preview and save option)

I agree. I have hit snapshot when intending to stand and to look at events.
So far this has cost me at least L$50. How long will 'no land' players put up with wasting their cash in this way?
Please do something about it

Use snapshot to disk instead of snapshot. It will save a bmp to the folder of your choice on your computer. You can view it with the bitmap viewer of your choice. If it's not what you want you can choose not to upload it into the game. There is no charge of snapshot to disk. Also, the snapshot will be of much higher quality than if you just use snapshot.

I think the problem is that people hit snapshot by accident, because of the bad positioning in the UI. Even before 1.2 it had bad positioning, I've hit it by accident before. I'd rather have a more useful button there, like the "Chat History" button. I know it's in the "chat" UI, but it takes 4 clicks to show and hide it... (I never use it, I resort to the annoying but better hotkey.) I'd say use some kind of hotkey for a snapshot, not a UI button. But I wouldn't give a second thought to it if they just dropped the snapshot feature completely. A snapshot preview with *option* to upload would work, too. (But bah, just do the quick fix and change the button to chat history )

But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

There is a big open space along the top toolbar. Snapshot button could fit nicely up there. Snapshot right in the middle up top by itself would prevent accidental uploads.

Chip, my problem isn't the feature itself, its the accidental button pushing, I do use snapshot to disk alot when needed. If there was an option in preferences "Always Take Snapshots To Disk" that would work too.

Tell me the next time you take an accidental snapshot I'll buy it from you for $10. I don't know that this is a techinical issue. It's more of a minor gripe I have not run into the problem, but I don't sit much. I understand how it might be annoying though.

It IS annoying and the button needs to be (re)moved.
I use Control-Shift-S to take in-game snapshots and ` to take HD snapshots. I've never wanted to click the button. Every time I have (and it's not a small number) was an accident.
Since the snapshot is being generated by your own client, there should be no reason why you can't preview it before allowing it to upload. Even if it's in a separate window from the game with Send and Cancel buttons.
And for GOSH SAKES...
HOT KEY STAND UP!!!!

The forum thread is about the accidental clicking of the snapshot button which is currently adjacent to the standup/fly button. The forum thread is is about suggesting either changing the location of said button or adding dialogue to warn the user (and thereby intercept the accidental clicking of said button) Your advice might be sound if we were discussing a conscious decision to have taken the snapshot in the first place.
