Hey all,

First off, let me tell you all my specs
OS: Windows XP Professional
Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon X600

Okay, I'm pretty sure thats all you need to know, but if you need anything else, just ask and ill tell. Anyway, here's my issue, I click the SL icon and it shows detecting hardware, etc. then, the SL window comes up (it is black) for a couple seconds then crashes.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

clear SL cache , can be one of the reason it instant crash,
if not, then try update drivers, 7.3 for ati sposedly one that works best with SL (beats me -.- i avoid Ati like plague for now)

Omegadrivers (recommended)

Not sure when this started, but about 7-10 days ago, Microsoft released an 'security/must have' update for XP sp2, when installed it crashed my client upon startup, I rolled back and it was fine. Last week they released a update to the update, stating that the previous one caused 'some issues with a few 3rd party games'.

Also, defrag your hard disc, I do mine everyday and it spends 90% of its time defragging the SL cache, which has made my client a bit more stable.

I have similar issue on my XP, keeps crashing a lot when logging in - in Vista it works fine whats surpsing me a lot. I have Intels integrated card (82915) which works tought very well and dont have updates, so i bet problem is that security update.
