New NVidia Drivers and New SL Version problems

Hi everyone,

I just updated my NVidia drivers with the latest release from the other day, plus downloaded the latest version of SL. The game runs like a DREAM!

The only problem is.. it looks awful! All of the edges on objects, buildings and avatars are no longer smooth. They're rough.. like I can see the individual blocks. It really makes it look nasty. :(

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
JM

I swear that with v1.1.2, avs have a reduced poly count. I posted this in the wrong forum but can someone verify --

Did 1.1.2 lower the av poly count from 1.1.1?

It's not only the avs... as a matter of fact, the worst thing is looking at an object from a distance. As I move, I can actually see lines move too!

Nothing is smooth anymore :(

Go into your display properties and turn on Antialiasing. The amount of AA (2x, Quincunx, 4x, 6x, 8x) will affect the speed of the display, so using 2x or Quincunx is what I would reccomend. Also, Anisotropic Filtering will help with viewing textures up close. 2x or 3x should be just fine, here.

Just to confirm what Lola says: With the latest driver release all performance enhancements (Anti-Aliasing which removes jaggies and anisotropic filtering which I think makes sharper images) were reset / defaulted to Application Controlled. I don't think SL specifies AA at all. So in this case, if it had been set to some value you would notice a degredation in appearance until you set some of these to higher values.

AA causes a performance hit though! Its best to play around with each and find the one that has the right mix of performance to image quality for you. Quincux is supposed to be a 'favorite' because it offers approximatly 4x quality AA (very good) for approximatly the performance cost of 2x AA (less good). Anyways, play with em.

I noticed tonight that ALL my prims are moving, constantly. I blame the new client side "smooth" movement and llSetPos() (and that setpos() seems pretty buggy..) everything's in motion, just in teeny tiny motions.
