i have a pretty good set up and know that my computer is very well capable of playing SL, so when ever i go to lay it i open the application and it starts up, the application window goes black then closes (what presume to be a crash). I have reinstalled it three time, and my emerald viewer doesn't work either. Maybe some one knows what could be wrong?

Same Problem here
05-13-2009 21:05
I am having the same problem. I've been trying to fix this for almost a year with no one getting me anything that will help. I updated my video card to an ATI Radeon HD 3600 and since then SL won't even load. It might help if I could view the crash log but cannot find it anywhere.

Still a no go for me
05-20-2009 17:37
Hello Everyone,

I've been reading the posts and there are so many people for which SL just won't start up for. I've tried alternate viewers. Checked to make sure the ports SL uses are open. I've shut down everything but the basics for Windows and it still won't start up. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Aliester

I didn't see this thread but I just posted a thread of my own with a similar issue: /111/b5/321877/1.html

It may be that you are getting a TDR error as a link in the above thread mentions. Certainly your description sounds very similar to what I'm getting. Whilst I know the problem however, I can't fix it, so I'm hoping someone will give some advice. Check the other thread as well as this in case someone replies.

One thing that I found definitely helped to start with was running SL in Fullscreen mode rather than in Windows mode but even that is starting not to work for me.
