A friend is building a PC and wants a card for ~$100 that will run SL. I know it has to be an Nvidia, but beyond that, anyone have suggestions?

But he said $100 :)

I think the GTS is slightly higher and the difference is almost neglible :)

It'd help to know for certain what interfece the OP's motherboard has. PCI-e? AGP?

gah!

goto the link 99$ < 100$ (barley, not counting shipping) and there is a good difference... its like a 8600 vs a 8600 GT id like a 625mhz video core vs a 540mhz one any day!

a good example is my old 6600GT, i had a stock 6600GT, it blew up (bad power surges and wonky memory = fried after a year and a total loss in faith in PNY) so i got a 6600GT oc overclocked by 75 mhz

and darn near doubled my framerate in windlight :)

the GT series is a darn fine card, GTS is just better if thats what the op wants, i would go for the GTS, its only on average 10$ more

altho on tiger direct, if you want to fool with mail in rebates a 8600GT can be had for 59$ which could go for another pair of dual channel pimp ram ... or a sound blaster or whatever
