Voice not working with new Router

I installed a new new linksys router and lost all voice on SL (no hearing or talking). Voice chat is enabled in SL and device settings are correct. Music, media, sounds and ambient all work fine.

Linksys support told me open ports and point them to MY COMPUTER. I tried this but not sure i did it right.

Do I open external ports or internal ports?

Linksys gave me the following ports. Are they correct?
UDP: 3478, 5060, 5062
UDP: 12000-15999

Linksys setup page for port forwarding does not accept the range 12000-15999. What should I do about that?

Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a link to some port info:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Firewall_Configuration

This url:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Voice/Technical

says:

* Port 21002 - TCP - for voice control signals
* Ports 12000-13000 - UDP - for voice media
* Port 80/443 - TCP - for Web server
* Ports 5060 or 5062 - UDP - for voice control signals

This url:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/How_do_I_configure_my_hardware_firewall_%28such_as_a_router%29%3F

says:
443/TCP, 12035/UDP, 12036/UDP, 12043/TCP, and 13000-13050/UDP

This last is what I would try to achieve first.

What model is your router?

that makes your router smarter than LL.

Thank you SuezanneC

Do I enter the port numbers under external or internal ports (set up has boxes for each). Also, I cannot enter hundreds of ports and the boxes do not accept ranges such as 12000-13000. What do I do?

This is way over my head, by the way. Its scary and depressing to have to muck about with settings like this. Do you know why SL or my router does not simply open the ports automatically? Should I hired geek squad or IT professional to do this for me?

Thanks,
Beragon
