Group-owned land incorrectly reports prim usage

When I sold three parcels of group-owned land in Miramare, SL continued to count the prims that *were* on those parcels against the total prims in the remaining parcel. Here are the stats from the About Land dialog. Keep in mind that it's the only plot that the group owns in the sim:

Simulator object usage: 971 out of 146 (825 well be deleted)

Objects parcel supports: 146

Objects on parcel: 85

Has anyone else run into this? Is there anything I can do? Right now I can't build on my land, and deleting objects doesn't help. :(

I just got the same thing today in Tehama, says we are uisng 2655 prims (it already returned a bunch more), but we are currently only using 1420.

Please submit bug reports for any time this happens, from your land with the problem. You can try to get the numbers to update by sub dividing a small piece and then joining it back. You will probably lose most or all your dwell for the day when you do that though - but that may be a small price to pay if your objects are getting returned.

That fixes it! (Well, it doesn't fix the root of the problem, but does force the server to re-evaluate the number of prims actually in use). That still doesn't resolve our problem with our builds being destroyed due to a server bug, however.

What I did was first take note that the sim reported us as using 2647 out of 2655 prims. I then subdivide a small parcel of group land in the simulator (which is incidentally joined to a non-adjacent parcel in the same sim) into a small 16 sq m parcel, then rejoined it.

The server then, and all of a sudden, showed us using 1417 out of 2655 prims. Big difference, and definately a server bug that needs to be fixed!

The problem all started when one of our group members bought part of our group land for their self. After purchasing part of the group land, the server got in its head that we were somehow way over our prim limit when we actually were not, resulting in the destruction of our builds (swiss cheese effect with bits and pieces missing everywhere) and the complete annhiliation of the Tehama Japanese gardens.

Lindens, please roll back the server and restore our builds! Please!

Note: I did submit a bug report last night when it happened.

<rant>Note: Nobody should have to make small sacrifices to fix server bugs. In fact, those affected should be compensated for it (admitting that we didn't have that much dwell, but the policy is wrong!</rant>

Note: Yes, I'm mad!

Note: Yes, I'll get over it! :D

Basically the take-home lesson for everyone regarding group owned land is...

If you sell some of your group land, check the prim allocation and prim usage after the sale. If you are somehow over your prim allotment, quickly subdivide a plot and then relink it to *force* the server to rethink for itself.

:D

Well the Lindens restored my neighbor's stuff, not my group's. Maybe I won't get over it. :(

The Lindens wouldn't roll back the server because it might affect other builds, but they did take the time to help out one of their special "friends" in the sim, for whom they have done special favors before.

I've had to destroy the build because to rebuild it by fitting in small pieces would have taken more time.

Thanks a lot Lindens,

A paying customer who is rethinking whether or not he should be.
