Finally decided to check SL out and this is how it looks for me when im logged in: http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/5083/slissue.png

Im on Windows Vista x64 with 4gb of ram and a ATi Radeon HD4870 1GB graphics card with the latest drivers. I have tried un-installing and re-installing the drivers as well as Second Life. Anyone know how I can fix this :x?

Oh and I guess this isn't really a technical issue but I figured I might as well ask. When I choose my location I thought that the place I was going to was international but it seem to be for german speakers mostly so is there an easy way to change my location :p?

That happend to me when i check the anisotropic filtering some times in my previus ATI G-card(i have an NVIDEA now) if you have it checked try unchecking that feature.
Also try the lastest driver for your G-card too.

This is an extremely common issue with ATI graphics cards. It's easy to fix. Go into your SL preferences -> Graphics -> Hardware Options, and disable Vertex Buffer Objects. ATI hardware does not properly implement OpenGL, and as such, cannot handle VBO's in SL. The result is giant traingles all over your screen. Turn off VBO's, and the triangles go away.

Papalopulus, are you certain anisotropic filtering was causing the problem for you? Are you sure it wasn't VBO's? They're on the same dialog, right next to each other. Is it possible you got them mixed up? If it was indeed AF that did it, that would be the first I've heard of it happening.
