I just am driving nuts with a forum entry ( /8/15/297897/1.html). I tried to post a documentation in the Building tips forum. But i can't seem to get the doc posted in one single chunk. As soon as i cross a magic size border, all i get is: "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /editpost.php on this server." I tried with firefox, and with IE6. So at the end i needed to add 4 posts to get it complete. But hey, that looks ugly. BTW: This behaviour hunts me since about 10 days now in the builders forum. Other forums don't seem to suffer from this effect. So either there is a bug in the forum, or there is a bug in my computer, or the forum adminstrators should increase the chunksize limit. Or do i write too much or got a spammer entry or something ??? Maybe the amount of information per contributor is limited ? (just kidding... i hope) I am quite frustrated and would like to solve this truly unneeded difficulty

No, there seems to be a weird stop word scanner running havock Try this: Create a message, which contains the regular pattern: "xelect.*from" where you must replace the leading "x" in the string by an "s". (I had to write it like this, because otherwise i would immediately trigger the stop word scanner to fire and i would not be able to post this message You can replace the ".*" in the middle of the expression by arbitrary characters, words, sentences, ... whatever ... and the scanner fires again and again. Remove the leading "s" and no error occurs. hah! This regular expression smells like an attempt to detect SQL statements in the text ... interesting ...

It definitely helps to avoid the combination:
"select" followed by any text, followed by the word "fr0m"
Of course if i would replace the "0" in the last word above by a "o", this post would never get through.
So now as a consequence i get used to write fr0m with a zero instead of using "o" to avoid this problem.
In the hope, that LL will eventually read my email about that particular pitfall...

I just had to change "set" to "put" to get a post to work. /8/36/298107/1.html#post2259804It's in the last sentence, there's no "select" so there's obviously other combinations it doesn't like.

Neat bug! Actually you can use from & select, you just can't use select in a post followed by (even two pages down in same post) fr*m.

Voted. Thanks, Jesse and Gaia for the explanation. This thing has been driving me nuts for weeks.
Now, if someone could just explain why I haven't been able to send or receive PM's in years, and why half the options in my User Control Panel are missing (and not always the same half), that would be fantastic. LL's been completely clueless about it.

"Are forum entries limited in size????"
Yes. A post can only be 30,000 characters long.
Attempting to preview a post of 31,300 characters produced the following message:
"The text that you have entered is too long (31300 characters). Please shorten it to 30000 characters long."
Chosen, your problem with PMs and the forum options has persisted through multiple computers and operating systems, so it's not a local problem, and you are the only person to have these problems out of all the forum users, so far as you've heard?
That is very weird.

That is very weird. Yup. The PM thing has been going on for years. The control panel options problem is fairly new. I only just noticed it the other day, when I changed my signature. I actually couldn't change it for several days, since the option to do so was gone. It eventually came back, but only when something else disappeared. It's really bizarre. When I log in with an alt, everything works as it should. I can only assume my main account on the forum is corrupted somehow.

Why am i so curious especially about the most weird issues ? I found, that all these regular expressions raise the described error: "up" "date" .* "s" "et" "se" "lect" .* "fr" "om" "de" "lete" .* "fr" "om" "in" "sert" .* "in" "to" we can make a running game out of this, named "Find the Combination", where LL spend some Linden dollars for the most creative regular expression, that gets caught by their forum parser... And we invent the "golden bug award" for the most crazy Bug in the web ... OH WHAT A SILLY GAME THIS IS !!! Grrrrrrr !!! BTW: I filed an issue in the support database and they told me (within 5 minutes only!!!) that they are not responsible. I got the advice to tell the forum administrators about that problem. I did as advised on 15-december-2008 and got no reply yet... Customer support is an evident corner stone to success, isn't it ?

Hopefully some more people will vote for this issue in the problem tracking system at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-917 .
