Just wondering, when are 2 person gestures planned for? I.e. hugs and kisses? :p

I overheard some talk about this being in development, but the nature of the 3D modelling makes this a hefty task. It is easier to accomplish in a 2D enviroment, like TSO. More important gameplay issues are being worked on before we will see hugging or hand holding.

I overheard this a long time back, could not even be relavant now, please correct me if I am wrong.

The problem lies in that they can't just be rote gestures. TSO, even if it was fully 3D would be much easier because all the sims are the same height, same arm length, same size hands, same size heads etc.

Because SL has a large range of all of these, if its not really mathematically worked out with some tricky math, then it looks very ugly.

Picture for instance the tallest person in SL kissing the shortest person. What about two tall people? Or two short people? The angles to move are different for all three. And then there is everything in between. And thats just a simple lean in and kiss, no arms or legs involved. ;)

couldn't you just do it on the fly? like when someone talks we turn our heads to look at them..that's not a gesture we just do it. so you could have a kiss gesture that just pulls your lip area toward the lip area of the other person and they meet in the middle. maybe.

in the meantime you could make do with affecitonately bumping into each other. kind of like cats. :)

Now, if you could take another avatar, attach them to your right hand, carefully adjust them to match position and rotation...

(yeah, I'm kidding.)

I think it'd be pretty cool if, in the future of course, two+ persons were given the option to design two+ person gestures... like... a consent-based thing where the two people who, if they want to be in love in the game and want to kiss, can create a streamline movement of the two bodies the same way one moves prims--eh... anyone have any idea what I'm suggested, or what I'm trying ot get at? I know it's so a way in the future idea... but it might be a more realistic/better approach because then random nobodies can't go around kissing people randomly--and perhaps new "script"/two+ person gestures could be taxed if the streamline is kept in game, etc.

Oh, I dunno what I'm talking about. I'm just babbling.

sounds like a lot of trouble to go through when you could just type /smooch or *kisses you* or stand close and use the kiss gestures we already have. :)

In a town hall meeting, we held a vote, and it was unanimous that LL would let us upload our own custom gestures before LL began working hard on 2 person gestures.

So it'll be a while.
