do any HUMANS ever read the SL tech support tickets?
i transferred US$25 to my second life account via a credit card yesterday (the first time i've uploaded $$$ from my credit card) in anticipation that i would be able to buy linden dollars with it.
but instead, when i tried to purchase $ lindens WITH MY OWN MONEY, i got a message that said i've exceeding my quota for billing for the day & month!
how can that be? i haven't bought ANY lindens yet!
this has also caused me major embarrassment because i promised to pay a vendor yesterday for a service he is providing me and this delay in being able to buy linden dollars is preventing me from meeting my obligation.
what good is it to allow someone to upload real money from her credit card to her SL account if she can't use it on SL? What gives?
when i opened a tech support ticket, all i got back was gibberish - some canned, pre-written, computer-generated message that did absolutely NOTHING to help me.
what was an initial two weeks of fun is suddenly turning into a very DISAPPOINTING experience on SL. my confidence in LL greatly diminished last night.
question for the linden people if they ever read these forums: just why the hell would i EVER consider upgrading to a premium account if this is the kind of tech support you give?
i suppose I should have waited a few days before answering that survey sent by andren linden. i surely would have had some choice words about tech support (or rather, the lack thereof!)
maybe someone from linden labs reads this forum and will respond. maybe not.
all i know is that linden labs has essentially hijacked $25 from me that it is not letting me use and their tech support seems pretty useless.
anyone else had/having a problem like this?

What you have done is credited your account with $25 rather than buying L$ here - https://secure-web18.secondlife.com/currency/buy.php - and since that is your first billing from whatever payment your using, it has started off those horrible billing and trading limits, which is the error message you are getting. I know about this cause I have had the same problem before and rang up the billing line and they explained to me what the issue was and told me that i had to wait 48 hours after the initial transaction occured. So really what I am saying to you as I said to myself is this: It's Your Own Damn Fault for not looking around the website first and finding out where to buy L$. I am also presuming that you are a basic holder (correct me if I am wrong) so if you sent in a ticket to the tech queue, it gets ignored becuase you filled in the ticket incorrectly (again, something which was my own fault from experience) submitting the ticket under Special Questions should fix that issue. P.S. First ever post. woooooooooo!

P.S. First ever post. woooooooooo! while i appreciate you telling me what the problem likely is, don't dare say it was My ''Own Damn Fault.'' linden labs should have a better explanation about how to buy lindens! and fyi, i did submit my tech support question under Special Questions! and they shouldn't have the answers ''signed'' by a person when it isn't a person answering the tech support question, either. the simple fact that YOU are telling me what the problem likely is rather than THEY telling me shows how much their customer service needs improvement for newbies. yes, i am a basic account holder. as i said above, ''just why the hell would i EVER consider upgrading to a premium account if this is the kind of tech support you give?'' or do you mean to imply that premium members have their tech support questions answers and the rest of us don't?

Ok, so I try and help you and you're concerned about ranting about Linden Labs tech support.
Fair dues, I'll not help any further.
Still your fault mind, can't blame LL for you not looking where to buy L$ correctly (hint: it's in the top left corner of the main page!!)

(and i'm only saying it like that to be polite.)

Hi Belinda - I got caught by this thing when I joined. I am not totally illiterate with computers and I didn't spot the problem until too late. The good news is that is really does only take a couple of days to resolve and then you can use your 25$ balance to buy L$.
I haven't looked at the new getting started guide - if this issue isn't referenced in that it would be a good idea to do so (hints to LL people).
I figured it out by extensive searching of the forums as we are not the only people to have had this problem (!).
